New energy efficient buildings will play an important role in reducing carbon emissions, lowering energy demand and generating sustainable renewable energy for the future.
However, keeping on top of the changes in energy efficiency solutions can be time-consuming and the benefits of various systems can be complicated even for the most experienced architects and builders.
Xpert Energy work with builders, developers and architects across the south of England to advise on the most efficient and effective sustainable energy solution for each project.
Bring us in right at the start of your project, and we can help with advice on the building fabric itself. Our fabric first approach will help ensure it is the most thermally efficient it can be, and ideally constructed for any energy efficient system including heat pumps, solar solutions, and battery storage.
We assess the following using our design model to produce a Property Energy Summary Report to compare what you have now with the savings and improvements an energy efficient system could deliver.
- Property insulation levels
- Upgrade wall insulation
- Floor insulation
- Roof insulation
- Doors
- Openings
- Thermal Bridging
- Air Tightness

Energy efficient solutions from Xpert Energy
Our specialist system designers and installation engineers have decades of experience in the design and installation of:
- Water Source, Ground Source, and Air Source Heat Pumps
- MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery)
- Solar & Battery Systems
We also cover a number of other technologies, including Bi-Valent (Dual Fuel) Systems, Thermal Stores, Unvented Cylinders and Underfloor Heating.
As part of every consultancy on existing buildings, we produce a Property Energy Summary Report including:
- Property insulation levels
- Upgrade wall insulation
- Floor insulation
- Roof insulation
- Doors
- Openings
We’re here to help with consultancy services too, if you just need expert input on:
- 3D thermal modelling
- Thermal bridging
- Airtightness calculations
- SAP calculations
- Building Regulations compliance for part F, L, O and G
- Energy Performance Certificates
Don’t see what you need on the list?

Key design essentials for energy efficient homes and Passive Haus projects
- Airtightness
Knowing how airtight your building will be is essential for correct design and should be agreed from the beginning for both new and old properties. It reduces heat losses and atmospheric influence as well as affecting air quality, mould issues and building regulations. Please chat to one of our team about tests and how it will change design. - Ventilation with heat recovery and air filtration (MVHR)
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery ensures that the building or home is filled with clean, fresh air all year round. It reduces moisture levels so there’s minimal condensation, lowers CO2 levels, and maintains natural; oxygen levels for improved concentration for your resident, staff or visitors. MVHR systems can also recover up to 90% of heat that would normally be lost through open windows or natural leakage. (See our MHVR page for more details.) - Insulation levels
Building regulations set minimum levels of insulation requirements in both new and existing dwellings during any construction work. The levels and types of insulation that are appropriate for different construction types are normally specified by an architect. Xpert Energy can model different insulation options and calculate ‘u’ values as part of our service. We can help with cold bridging details which should be modelled out at design stage. More insulation may be sensible depending on construction types - Optimal glazing thermal performance
Window thermal performance is crucial to the success of sustainable energy efficient builds. We can help with advice beyond the basics of triple glazing, We provide Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations as required under building regulations and extensions on existing dwellings with over 25% glazing. (For more details see our SAP page.) - Sustainable energy through microgeneration
As fully accredited installers under the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), we can advise on ways to increase the energy efficiency of your new build through microgeneration of energy that is sustainable, storable and sellable!
Our fabric first approach for new buildings
Xpert Energy have a unique ability to over-deliver on projects, offering an excellent service from beginning to end. With our fabric first approach, we devise a workable plan for clients and work with their architects and builders along with key suppliers to achieve the smooth running of each bespoke project.
Ongoing support
We are committed to planning and implementation through to delivery. So, we continue to offer support on all our renewables installations up to 3 years from commissioning in the following counties:
Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Middlesex, Surrey, and Hertfordshire.
