Scope of Works
Xpert Energy met the client at the property to discuss the project in detail. Xpert Energy follows a ‘FABRIC FIRST’ philosophy which identifies areas of the property which need improvement to ensure that heat losses are reduced to a minimum.
With older properties like this one, there are additional challenges due to the construction of the property. An energy summary report was advised to be carried out on the property, which the client agreed to. A return visit was booked in where we went through the property with a fine-tooth comb to identify the areas.
From the report recommended areas where to be upgraded were:
- Wall Insulation
- Floor Roof insulation
- Roof Insulation
- Openings
- Ventilation (Air Tightness Test), if required
This enabled the original heat loss calculation to be reduced by around 60% to enable a low carbon heating technology to be installed during the property renovation. The original heating system was oil which did not meet current building control measures when an extension was added to the property.
Work Carried Out
- Installation of low carbon heating system (Air Source) and well as underfloor heating to the ground floor and column radiators to the first floor.
- Energy efficient controls for comfortable heating using advanced weather compensation.
- Ultra-quiet system with low maintenance.
- Self-contained unit which only requires water and electrical supply.
Installation
Our installation was planned to work within our client’s timeframe during the renovation of their property. Xpert offered an air source heat pump along with a hot water cylinder to provide the property with an efficient low carbon source of heating and hot water. On the secondary side we designed the underfloor heating circuits and sizing of the radiators. The project was managed by Xpert’s senior engineer and was implemented in various stages.
Equipment Installed
Samsung Monobloc Air Source Heat Pump, 250 litre cylinder, Danfoss underfloor heating controls designer column radiators and underfloor heating system.
Testimonial
“I am a builder specialising in restoration of historic properties. When it came to renovating my own home, a former Victorian brick outbuilding, I wanted to make a house that was sustainable and eco-friendly.
Among other sustainable features I wanted an air source heat pump to heat the house and water. With limited experience with this side of construction I turned to Xpert Energy to spec and install the whole heating system for me.
From the very first consultation with Xpert to the aftercare with the service engineers it has been a fantastic experience. During the rebuild itself they were very flexible and responsive to what is always an evolving situation. I am very happy with the end result, and I couldn’t recommend Xpert Energy highly enough.”
